Your Overlords Declare:
Alexis_Royce, February 7th, 2012, 7:42 pm

Sorry this is a day late; Kinny hacked my computer and wiped the disc. Hah, I kid! A random virus is the one that caused that. XD But yes, bit of a delay, but all the EP files are safe. I keep this comic backed up as heck. ^_^

Nice! Can't wait to see what happens.

Andrew Wolfwood, February 7th, 2012, 7:51 pm

hey royce, if ya interested, I'd like to know what security ya using. I do a little tech work here and there, but security is what I'm good with. I know some good stuff that may be better for your computer, especially if your using Norton

Alexis_Royce, February 7th, 2012, 7:57 pm

@Andrew Wolfwood: Thank you kindly, but it's a rootkit virus, and by now, there's not much I can do but reformat. I've been working on it for over a week. -_-;

But thank you again! I really appreciate the offer. :D

Andrew Wolfwood, February 7th, 2012, 8:01 pm

Wish you lived close by, I got a good friend, he is a computer wiz, he's the guy who can easily fix a computer, and for a friend of mine it would be free of charge, and I consider you a friend. If you like though I can send you something that may be able to help

nccvoyager, February 7th, 2012, 8:15 pm

I find it kinda funny...
I use only Microsoft Security Essentials...
Haven't had a virus in...
Well, since I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista...

As a side-note...
Friend of mine uses Norton...
It picked up the book I've been writing as a virus when it scanned my flash drive...
The fact that it tried to format the main HDD of the computer instead of just putting the file in quarantine, kinda made us start to question Norton...
When it actually did format his HDD...
That's when he decided to go towards something else.

Epic comic.
As usual.

Never had a problem with Avast anti-virus. The basic home version is free, though you need to register it every year.

And yay! New chapter!

Arcalian, February 7th, 2012, 9:04 pm

Having just replaced my hard drive....
a little over a week ago, you have my sympathies.

Also, new chapter looks good!

Fire Hazard (Guest), February 7th, 2012, 10:03 pm

Oooh, Lime (or is it Lemon) looks worried. What's Alice planning here?

Phaet (Guest), February 7th, 2012, 11:38 pm

little trick
If you use a live boot for standard operation and mount your main disk as read only then you can prevent viruses. Then to work on the comic run a script to unmount, disconnect from the internet, mount as read/write save files, unmount, mount as read only and reconnect to the internet. If you want I could write the script for you that would be compatible with most Linux live boots. In order to make a live boot disk or netboot the easiest way is to use unetbootin. Good luck and sorry about the virus

unknownmysteryguy (Guest), February 8th, 2012, 12:28 am

too bad.
I hope you solve your virus iss- Oh my god! Who's Alice trying to kill, and why is Lime worried? Is she planning on killing Lemon?

Andrew Wolfwood, February 8th, 2012, 9:23 am

You know what would be a fun twist, if Lemon and Alice switched bodies. Alice and Lime.... hehehehehe

Moofin (Guest), February 8th, 2012, 3:24 pm

Our baby is getting eviler by the day.

Ben (Guest), February 8th, 2012, 10:24 pm

Looking truly cunning in the title page.

shinypurplepants, February 8th, 2012, 10:29 pm

Best of luck with the virus!

Waiting with bated breath :D

ClarkeWolf, February 9th, 2012, 4:12 pm

Funny, she was surprised and rather resistant to evil at first, suppose you just learn to live and love what you are eternally stuck with XD

Guest, February 9th, 2012, 4:13 pm

i had a problem with viruses last year. my comic was on hiatus for nearly 2 months.

Bartimaeus (Guest), February 10th, 2012, 4:19 am

Note: I posted this comment once already but it didn't seem to be accepted. So I'll post it again.

I have a suggestion that should help with antivirus problems (and could help with your current one, too):

1) Install Linux on your machine along-side windows (dual-boot). I recommend Ubuntu.

2) Install ClamXAV, a free antivirus program, into Linux.

3) Then, whenever your computer gets infected, you can run ClamXAV from Linux, it'll remove the virus from Windows, and Windows won't be running so the virus won't be able to fight back.
(More Info: linuxhelp.blogspot.com/2005/10/clamav-free-anti-virus-solution-for.html )

Hope this helps!

Neferius, February 10th, 2012, 3:37 pm

Darn it!
Late for the tech conference :(
Well, at this point I can't add much to the discussion, but I will say that all of these are good suggestions, except the one about making your main partition read-only and the one about installing Norton. Why I personally dislike Norton AV, besides the software's obvious shortcomings, is also tied to the fact that Symantec, the company behind Notron AV supports SOPA, along with Kaspersky and McAfee:

Personally, I use ESET Smart Security. I like it because of it's advanced firewall that can actually block Network Attacks like DNS cache-poisoning. Otherwise, M$ Security Essentials is also adequate.

Bartimaeus (Guest), February 11th, 2012, 3:35 am

...I forgot to comment on the comic! Silly me. Alice looks surprisingly... eeeevil in this cover...
