Your Overlords Declare:

EDIT: Well, I've tried multiple times to find a place to host this visual novel file, but all of them have shut down or looked too dodgy to use. While there's no sound, I have taken screenshots of the whole thing, which you can read here: http://epvoteincentives.tumblr.com/post/118171310881

(Of course, it WOULD only be a dream.)

swwinchester, April 2nd, 2013, 4:07 am

Most interesting. I think you're about the only person around who would give us such a goodly amount of actual, workable intel and background data as an 'April Fools' joke.

And to think, in a week, all this will be scrubbed from the archives, and only a few will remember most of what was said when you actually start to make use of all of this.

Henry91, April 2nd, 2013, 5:13 am

Why would you remove this?

It's a postiively juicy (Although somewhat long-winded with the mood-setting) piece of world-building - the kind that makes me positively salivate with a brand new world to let the imagination run free in.

Surely there's some way to collapse it into a link that will be stored?
Storytelling such as this should never disappear.

Alexis_Royce, April 2nd, 2013, 6:26 am

I'm glad you guys liked it. I try not to worldbuild too much, because it slows down the plot, so it was nice to let loose and straight-up dump all this on you guys. Someday you may even get to see some of the Company's flagship team. ^_^

And don't worry, once I take this down from the archive, I'll have it for you guys in a more readable form. :3

Oh good, not gone forever. Seriously, amazing piece there. Just <3

Lixie (Guest), April 2nd, 2013, 11:29 am

Aw man this is canon? This was AWESOME. I would read the comic if it were like this every day... not that I don't love it as it it. xD

Alexis_Royce, April 2nd, 2013, 11:45 am

Thanks, you two! ^u^ I've been playing with Visual Novel stuff over the past year, so it was good to get some more practice with putting one together.

And if you liked the way Evil Plan did it here, it's honestly nothing compared to morphE, which is assembled in flash. That's the terribly dark new story we launched last week. I could never handle all that on my own, as shown by me using jpegs for this. ^_^

joseph bro (Guest), April 2nd, 2013, 1:52 pm

This was so cool. Origin stories are awesome.

Dr.C (Guest), April 2nd, 2013, 5:34 pm

Aha! i saw your reference to APM from woot labs in there. This was Great!
Hm. I suddenly am more interested in this world in general than Kinisis and Alice.
Huh. Oh well. Thank you for this wonderful update!

... even if it 'slows down the plot', feel ABSOLUTELY FREE TO WORLDBUILD.

You've obviously got one hell of an interesting world here, and it's worthwhile to get a chance to see it from outside the narrow-frame perspective of our beloved main characters.

Quite seriously, this is perfect 'interlude' stuff to put between chapters. Or in a book, perhaps of the donation-box PDF variety, now that I think on it for a second. I know I'd gladly drop the proverbial coins for background info. Hell, there's precedent for it *looks at the OOTS volume 0 and -1 books on his shelf*.

Henry91, April 3rd, 2013, 5:47 am

You realize that you have to provide links now, right?

In case it isn't obvious, I'm all with swwinchester, joseph bro and Dr.C
Worldbuilding is like the awesomer brother of character develoopment.

miyto (Guest), April 3rd, 2013, 10:47 pm

Wait a moment...
... morphE was *this* team!?!
And here I thought I found a new author to follow in that one...
I guess WoD campaign setting is fairly different from a Hero-based distopia.
I'm fairly certain a modern environment with a puppet gov't is some kind of distopia, I'm not sure if it needs the current gov't to be any different to qualify as such.

ChibiSilverWings, April 3rd, 2013, 10:51 pm

@miyto: Partly us! Alexis and I are working with two friends on MorphE. Megan, who does basically all the coloring on EP isn't involved in MorphE.

Alexis wrote the overall plot of MorphE and helps somewhat with lines but most of the actual writing you're reading on that is is me and stkbayfield. So there is a fair bit of overlap XD

ChibiSilverWings, April 3rd, 2013, 10:53 pm

@Henry91: The link to MorphE you requested, good fellow: http://www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofile.php?id=122406

Alexis_Royce, April 4th, 2013, 9:17 am

@ChibiSilverWings: Whoops! I thought @Henry91 was asking for links to the April Fools' thing after I take it down. You guys will most certainly have that, too. And it will be free, though the idea of paid extras could be worth testing in the future.
And @miyto: What Chels said- Evil Plan is Megan and I, with a heavy scoop of writing help from Chels. morphE has Chels and I in it, but pguest does most of the work.

Bob (Guest), April 7th, 2013, 4:33 pm

I finally got around to reading the April Fool stuff and it was really great. Brings a new dimension to the whole universe we are in.
But taking it down. That's just not cool. Maybe put it in a link or condense it down to one page where you click it.

Unnamed Minion 132, November 10th, 2014, 10:36 pm

Bring back April Fools 2013
I just started reading EP and I like Bob (Guest) would like to read the now missing chapter due to the broken link. If you do not want it in the archives then perhaps host it somewhere on the site?

Alexis_Royce, November 10th, 2014, 11:15 pm

@Unnamed Minion 132: Oh dear. Everyone used to be able to download the April Fool's game from a link right below the image. But my friend hosting the link doesn't have her website anymore. Since you posted, I've been looking for a new place to host the file, but I currently don't have one.

Djkblu (Guest), April 30th, 2015, 1:31 pm

What about lazy droid users who are marathon reading archive and don't want to walk over to comp?😜

A Concerned Bystander (Guest), May 4th, 2015, 9:04 pm

Do we have to register to access the file? I'm clicking the link and it's not working.

Alexis_Royce, May 4th, 2015, 10:15 pm

@A Concerned Bystander: Ugh. I'll just take down the link. Looks like this site isn't up to the task either.

Scott (Guest), January 20th, 2017, 4:34 pm

And it still hasnt been hijacked to amazon for a 1000 package order of radish seeds?

eekee, May 31st, 2018, 8:30 pm

That bit about the elderly taking their condition seriously reminds me of that guy who was head doctor for the Soviets or something. Head computer scientist too or something. He said "There's no reason anyone can't live to 90." Well, when he got old, he took the condition very seriously... and died at 89.
