Your Overlords Declare:
Alexis_Royce, May 10th, 2015, 11:29 am

Hendrik's an awesome name. So is Stanley Alfred. I can't stand it when my characters get uppity and start complaining. You brought this on yourself, Meat Shield.

Also, why do you guys think Anguish did this? I'd love to hear your conjecture.

Coloring by Megan! We also have a mini-comic this week for our vote incentive. It's what's going on with Alice and Kinesis right now.

Anguish's motives
Anguish is still a villain, yes? Kinesis and L&L are on the same side as him, but the hero isn't. Now that he's got what he wants outta Meat Shield, it's time to do his duty and nix out the hero.

TheVelveteenRabbit, May 10th, 2015, 11:39 am

Hm I agree with temporal. He's got his information, the dude would be a liability if he just let him go

Koren, May 10th, 2015, 12:23 pm

I bet it's exactly for the reason he told Kinesis before. He protects his own, so he can't have an ex-hero wandering around who knows his potential ally's secret identity. That would just be bad for business.

Arcalian, May 10th, 2015, 6:03 pm

Bcaus he wants info on Stanley
Exposing Meat Shield was almost incidental, and not at all surprising.

BattleStarX, May 10th, 2015, 6:53 pm

Now that was a perfect Dapper Gentleman level of evil. Just calmly getting up, walking around with help of a cane, then dropping the hood and calling him out.

sapphire947, May 10th, 2015, 7:50 pm

Is it...
Maybe because the hero said his middle name out loud, and if anyone else happened to hear him say it, recognized the name, and saw Anguish with him, they might accuse Anguish of working with the heroes or something.

sapphire947, May 10th, 2015, 7:50 pm

... did that make any sense?

arkcine, May 10th, 2015, 10:59 pm

a practical joke on a old frienamy?

Alexis_Royce, May 11th, 2015, 7:41 am

@heliumsquid: I find it pretty funny that everyone reads him as British; since Anguish is from south of the Mason-Dixon line. I wonder if I should've tossed a "y'all" or a "bless your heart" in there somewhere to tip people off? XD

Quin (Guest), May 11th, 2015, 5:53 pm

Makes sense. You have the build of up a possibly good villain who is bringing in good business/rep. Then you have hero boy who might expose his identity, and/or give the "redemption arc" speech.

Toss the hero and look up the regular persona to get an idea of who he is and how you should plan your next few moves.

+10 to the villain teams for good work!

shylarah, May 11th, 2015, 6:54 pm

Well, to be fair, OnceandFuture is a rather Arthurian username.

Also, that vote incentive gets all my squee.

SaveTheLoser (Guest), May 12th, 2015, 12:18 am

He is a surprisingly nice guy, for someone called Anguish. He refuses to consider his employees henchmen, he lets them have breaks, he listens to them. Whatever his reason for being a villain is, he kind of reminds me of Dr. Universe from Spinnerette.

RainWall (Guest), May 12th, 2015, 6:41 am

Hmmm. It's possible that Anguish doesn't want information about Kinesis to get out. He seems to want Doc Kinesis as an ally, so it's in his best interest if his true identity as Stanley remains unknown. Otherwise I doubt Anguish would have exposed Hendrik, it's not really his style to betray potential sources of information, especially given their history. However, if I remember correctly, Hendrik is no slouch. The villains may find themselves surprised when they try to bully THIS hero.

Egg (Guest), May 12th, 2015, 5:22 pm

@Alexis_Royce so you're saying he's NOT British? This is more surprising than Computer being Will!

Alexis_Royce, May 13th, 2015, 1:19 pm

@Egg: I got a good long laugh out of this comment. XD

Xylas_Incarnum, May 12th, 2015, 5:27 pm

... now that I give him a good look, his moustashe does look like it's more texan than brittish.... as do his clothes now that I give them a real good look. They give off that "modest texan ranch owner" vibe.

The level of proffesionalism and, so far, slow temper feels more brittish though.

Arcalian, May 12th, 2015, 10:46 pm

@Alexis_Royce I never even really thought about Anguish's background in that sense. To me he was just "evil rich guy".

Alexis_Royce, May 13th, 2015, 1:18 pm

@Arcalian: No worries. It's my job to know backstories, hopes and dreams for all the minor characters. You guys should be able to put as little or as much thought as they like into the story on your end. It's there for fun, and that's what it's called entertainment! :D

eekee, May 31st, 2018, 10:24 pm

Hmm, betrayal. Understandable, really, Hendrik is being terribly foolish here.

Guest, October 23rd, 2018, 7:14 pm

So...Anguish is Floridian? Like Miami/Orlando/Tallahassee, not randomruraltownsville
This is coming from someone who has spent quite a while in Florida.
