Your Overlords Declare:
Alexis_Royce, November 20th, 2017, 8:28 am

Ah yes, Kinesis. Setting a young man on fire is a great way to ensure they behave in a calm, rational manner.

Coloring by Megan this week! I apologize for the page being late; I've had more commission work than usual in the past week! It's a good problem to have, I'm just getting a crash course in better time management.

He's surprisingly calm and rational, reaching for the blanket with his powers

Alexis_Royce, November 20th, 2017, 10:42 am

@Merrsharr: He's doing his best. :)

FOR SHITS, GIGGLES, AND FUNSIES! Also notoriety, money and power.

Perhaps too dark
Strange question, but Kinesis knows about the implant in the kid, and that implant is definitely within the weight limit. While it does have an extendable spike, I think it's pretty clear Kinesis is less than worried about damaging his...is it appropriate to say rival at this point? Anyway, what stops him from just telekinetically ripping the implant out of his enemy?

Alexis_Royce, November 20th, 2017, 12:28 pm

@Kaelnoran: No worries, I get this question a lot. There's a number of reasons they haven't just taken the chip out of Kevin:

1. It would break the upgrade. Remember that the plans for it got lost? If Kinesis ever wants to upgrade his TK, he needs the chip unharmed. It's possible that he could redesign it, but it's the last thing he and Will worked on. And if you hadn't noticed, he's a little hung up on trying to preserve memories and the existence of his old partner.

2. Even if they didn't mind damaging the chip, getting deeply violent like that isn't in everyone's nature. Alice did try to kill Kevin, but she wasn't about to start disfiguring his corpse. There's a big difference between the stomach that's able to shoot or push a man off a ledge, and a person who can dispassionately mutilate a man's skull. If Alice had been ordered to do it, even if she tried, her hands would've shook too much. Stress reaction. Adrenaline kicks in. The brain starts to dissociate, and everything feels dreamlike.
Kinesis is also making mistakes here and risking damaging the chip because he's scared. He's never been in a combat situation before. And it's all well and good to assume you can keep a clear head, but when push comes to shove, logic becomes a little fuzzy.

3. I also try to keep Evil Plan around a PG13-ish rating. Something like botched surgery or a scary death might show up in EP, but I don't want to get too gory. Nothing personal against gore, it just has a time and a place. (A place like Sire, or the visual novel I'll be putting out in a couple weeks.

Frankly, Kinny has lost the rights to anything really...
He has gone from "nobly attempting to fix a corroded system" to "almost a lunatic who will willingly watch the world burn, including the parts that are in good shape".
The interactions K&K are currently having are not necessarily inappropriate, but seem to be going in a drastically differently direction than I would have expected.

Hydra, November 20th, 2017, 4:22 pm

I'm wondering how Kevin would react if Kinny did tell him the reasons he became a villain. I definitely feel he'd be taken aback if he was told that Kinny's doing this so he can before someone else can.

Alexis_Royce, November 20th, 2017, 4:44 pm

@Hydra: I wish they could sit down and talk this out. Kevin's pretty much the only Company member who would have a sympathetic ear.

Koren, November 20th, 2017, 6:13 pm

When a man is pushed into a corner, that man pushes back. If you want Kinesis to stop pushing you, you need to stop pushing him.

Xylas_Incarnum, November 20th, 2017, 9:27 pm

Because someone's going to win as an evil overlord eventually, possibly even using my tech, so I might as well do the job.

Also it's rather fun when things go smoothly.

Sound about right?

No Escape (Guest), November 20th, 2017, 10:02 pm

Yeah, I think I finally understand what Kinny is doing.
Kinny is pushed into a corner and exploded. If Kevin were to go onto strictly the defensive, he would be able to actually talk to Kinny. Kinny is just raging and is going to burn himself out. If Kevin had feigned ignorance for a minute longer, then there may have been an immediate peaceful outcome. As it is, there is little hope of solving the problem.
But maybe.
Maybe someday.

"So, uh, lets call it a draw? *bad poker face*"
But in all seriousness, I always loved the "brute force vs creativity" type of situations.
Edit: also, props to Kevin for holding up. Right now he must be in a LOT of pain.

HamPlan (Guest), November 22nd, 2017, 10:24 pm

@Broken Gear

Just telekinetically stop your nerves from touching

HamPlan (Guest), November 26th, 2017, 2:28 pm

Okay, how did he even do that?

Guess who (Guest), November 27th, 2017, 5:53 am

@Alexis_Royce: welp you can always do the thing where the chip is protected somehow from telekinesis or blunt force attacks just by being a stronger version than the chip Kinesis has....or a failsafe to avoid "heroes" taking it... or the casing interfering with the chip...

eekee, June 1st, 2018, 2:53 pm

Why would YOU? Why did you fight back? Why are you doing what the Company wants?
