The writing's pretty good and this comic is a lot of fun, but just for the future, you can't patent an upgrade. It's a non sequitur. It'd be like saying I wrote a tort for you.

For a fast track start on patent law, you must first prove that an invention is truly unique (thus, all the proofs if you look on freepatentsonline.com) and you have 1 year to complete it once the item has become public. (example: you present it at a conference, or to your teacher for a project) Fun fact: your product doesn't have to work in order to be patented, nor do you have to test it before filing with the patent office.
