Award-Winning Comic Now on Sale!

Evil Plan has had a very good couple weeks, folks. The Sunday before last, Evil Plan won the Smackjeeves "Golden Butler" Award for best sci-fi, a triumph from which we're still reeling. Out of the tens of thousands of comics on Smackjeeves, readers saw fit to dub Evil Plan the best Sci-Fi comic on the site. It's a huge honor, and I want to hug each and every person who voted for us. I love writing and drawing Evil Plan, and I'd be happy to go on telling stories to thin air. But what really makes it rewarding is that people actually give a care what Kinesis is going to do on that next page, or just exactly when the hell William is going to stop mucking around and reenter the narrative. You guys make it worth it.

Then out of the blue yesterday afternoon, I got fantastic news from Comixpress: the graphic novel of Evil Plan is now on sale! You guys have been patient and wonderful, and the day is finally here!

Check it out over here: http://www.comixpress.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=0&products_id=1758

The price is 21.99, and though I know that's still pretty high for a book, All the lovely color work that you see on the website is in the book, which is the main reason it costs more to print than a manga. The price is the best I could do, though: Comixpress likes to set things up so that storeowners can buy books at a 30% discount, and as nice as that is, the price for everyone else was just too high. So I told the site to just give everyone the discount. It means Meg and I aren't making very much at all off each book, but that's okay for us. We'd rather a bunch of people get a chance to get it at a cheap cost.

If you'd like to have one signed, I advise you to buy it off the website, and hit us at a con sometime. We're right now figuring out where to go to cons after Chelsea graduates, so put in a suggestion for one near you, and we might just visit to see you. That is a steadfast rule: if you buy a copy of Evil Plan and seek me out, you get a signature and your title page drawn all over. If that doesn't work for you, I will be ordering a bunch to have on hand for cons and such, so I could sign it, draw Kinny or Alice or whoever you like in there, and mail it to you. I won't take a cut (honestly, I'm not charging for signatures), but I will have to ask you to pay for the shipping costs both times. That's how little we're making off each book: shipping it twice would eat up all our profit.

So support the supervillain regime, and please pick up a copy! Brag to your friends about how you support independent comics now, and later you can brag that you liked Evil Plan *before* it was cool.

Then I suspect I will simply have to wait until GenCon rolls around again.

@swwinchester: Great idea. I'll have them there for sure. :3

How about Anime Evolution in Vancouver?

Alexis_Royce, August 24th, 2010, 10:33 pm

@Sol: I'll talk it over with Chels. Since we'd be making money, I'd have to make sure I could get everything squared away with the Canadian government. ^_^
